What is Champagne Italy?

Champagne Italy is a clothing company located on East Adams Boulevard in Los Angeles. Specializing in women’s church suits, party dress, and accessories for all ages and occasions, the company sells only wholesale designs, and creates a look book catalogue twice a year to showcase Fall and Winter, and Spring and Summer.Getting a lot of business from trade shows, they company designs and ships their own clothes. They do not manufacture, making Los Angeles the perfect location.

How do they operate?

Equipped with a design team in Los Angeles, the company creates all of the designs and then orders the fabric from South Korea. The clothes are then sent to China, where they are produced. From the warehouse the clothes are then shipped all over the states to retailers who order wholesale. Depending on piece and the materials used, the clothes range from $59-$399. The minimum number of items that can be purchased wholesale is six or more, and in order to do so you must have a business license. Most of clothes are sold to stores in the area, in particular on Los Angeles Street, and there are currently over 50 retailers who buy and sell Champagne in their stores. It can also be found on ClothingIsland.com, who is neighbor to the Champagne warehouse. Their company buys 50-60 pieces from the company each year.

Why South Central Los Angeles?

The company was started 14 years ago, but has been in its current location for the past seven. Originally they were located on San Pedro Street, but sales manager Charles Choi said that the property was too expensive, and they needed more space to expand. On East Adams, the store was able to purchase a chain of warehouses that lined the street for a reasonable price. There is now plenty of room, and the only thing he must pay to the City of Los Angeles is a business tax. If changes were to be made to the building he would have to talk to the City of Los Angeles for approval, but he doesn’t see any reason for construction in the future.

In Los Angeles, the Champagne warehouse is full of suits and dresses from every color on the spectrum, and shoes and accessories stocked against the back wall. There are only two workers who work in the warehouse, and they take the orders from retailers, find the clothes in the warehouse, and ship them to the targeted destination.
