What is ClothingIsland.com?

ClothingIsland.com is another wholesale clothing store that is located on East Adams, that started five years ago. Its parent company, Paris Fashion, has been in business for over 20 years. The owner of Paris Fashion wanted to keep the new business close, and set up ClothingIsland.com’s warehouse, putting his son in charge. David Omarari, runs the warehouse, and does things the same way his dad does, keeping the family history and practices in the business. At the warehouse, the company does not design its own clothes, but buys from others and gets business from buyers and other retailers. Omarari sells a lot of clothes to the local shops also. The company sells wholesale clothing for men, women, and children, and receives clothes from vendors nationwide.

Why locate in South Central Los Angeles?

ClothingIsland.com sells its products online, but also to many mom and pop boutique stores nationwide. Since the location is only responsible for shipping, they save a lot of money on packaging. Because the warehouse does not do the manufacturing itself, the rent is much cheaper than that in Vernon, where each company needs a manufacturing factory. With only five workers, ClothingIsland.com is able to keep up with the competition of bigger retailers because of how large the clothing market and fashion industry are. Omarari said that because the clothes are price sensitive, they do not need to struggle and found that because of the low prices they were able to be busier and successful during the economic recession. With over 2,000 styles of products, and jeans as cheap as $5.99 wholesale, ClothingIsland.com has become one of the largest wholesale apparel distributors in the Los Angeles area.
